Björk is één van m'n favoriete artiesten aller tijden. Dus toen dit weekend bekend werd gemaakt dat ze via haar officiële website bjork.com vragen zou beantwoorden m.b.t. haar live optredens, heb ik er meteen een stuk of 10 'ingezonden'.

De eerste vraag ging over het spelen van nog onuitgebrachte nummers; Neil Young doet dat blijkbaar niet meer, omdat er bijna altijd direct een publieksopname van op internet kwam; hij vond dat het spelen van zo'n nummer (dat vaak nog niet helemaal af is) heel intiem was, en iets was tussen hem en het publiek. Niet voor iedereen op internet. Ik vroeg waarom Björk besloot tijdens haar meest recente tournee toch 4 nieuwe nummers te spelen. Dit schreef ze terug;

i did think about that but having been a bit overprotective in the past i was ready to surprise myself and make an exception to the rule . i am actually more worried that the song will loose it´s "virginity" live ( as a feeling ) than the fans hearing it incomplete . i am more worried about how i feel about it , that when you get back to the studio after the tour the song will be too worn out , a bit of a stillborn , than fans hearing a bad sound recording of it . but i was ready to take the consequences and added 4 new songs and if they don´t survive the treatment that´s ok . they died for a good cause , a bit of mourning will happen but then gracefully things will move on to new songs , apparently there are many unwritten still out there ...

Ik vroeg haar tevens hoe lang van tevoren ze beslist welke nummers ze tijdens een bepaalde show gaat spelen;

preferably just a little , before . this tour we had to do it earlier like couple of hours so the firework people could organize their rockets . otherwise like a few minutes before . just to see what modd your in .
